BM: Greetings! Salam nusantara from us. How's the world treating you guys lately? Any latest progress in SINGHASARI camp?
PA: Daulat and Heilsa! The world in general never treated us good! All this globalization and modernization lies including the new world order system made us want to draw back more and more into the ancient times! It’s depressing and devastating to think of.. We are more likely to live among ourselves, as for the moment we are currently rehearsing our new hymns for our upcoming release under Hellhouse 666 Production (Siam), it will released as E.P in tape format. Expect the release soon!
BM: Could you brief us deeply into the SINGHASARI journey as a band? Who is the master mastermind behind of all idea?
PA: Singhasari was formed in late 2009, to heed the call to arms of our Nusantaranese ancestral spirits, the betrayal of the modern society brought tears to our mother Nusantara, thus we claimed the oath of war to continue this battle forth! Only two of us who are really involve in Singhasari, myself Pengiran Andika Harimau Berantai & Panglima Demang Bersiong, the ideas and core of Singhasari are always considered as my creation all over, I create the music and ideas for Singhasari and Panglima Demang Bersiong fulfill it in his unique drum strokes. The essence of Singhasari is so deep within me, the voice of my agony and anger, the voice of my pride! This is Singhasari!
BM: What actually your main target while formed SINGHASARI. You also has involve with other bands before. What actually the main differ between SINGHASARI and other bands that you joined before.
PA: I have experienced a lot during those past days with my old bands, some I am happy with the output and some I felt very disappointed, this involved matters with hard to find a suitable soul and people to create the band. I linger a lot in my own circle, Singhasari always belonged to the Petaling Jaya Nationalist fraternity but there will always be only me who masterminded this band in order for this band to go exactly how I want it to be. Those are the disappointments with my old bands that I don’t want it to happen and the reason why I created Singhasari. Actually I am currently still involved with other bands too but Singhasari is my main priority because this is my 100% pure voice and satisfaction! No one can interfere with my work and I am happy with this! Singhasari will always be different than my other bands, in terms of ideological and sound, in Singhasari I mix it a lot with Javanese and other Nusantaranese scales, whilst in my other bands this essence are not presence.
BM: Hearing to your promo, I've found your music is typical type of Black/Thrash metal. But, beside the typical arrangement I found something that is more important beside the music itself. Perhaps your honest message thru your lyrics. I've been noted that you guys are more into National Socialist ideology. What actually brings you to use this idea? It's related with today fuckin' political issues or else? Perhaps Malay folklore?
PA: To be honest actually I didn’t expect our material to sound black/thrash as there was no direct reference to any other Metal bands when I composed those two songs on our promo, all I remember I mixed it with Javanese scales on the song "Srivijaya" and my drummer put a “joget” mood on it, as for “Rajawali” it is another Javanese scale in Metal style and are more straight to the face styles with blast beats and all, or probably you were referring to the middle part of “Rajawali”? Actually I created that part in order to change the mood of the song, yes it does sound a bit thrashy in that part. I must admit that I listened quite a lot to 80’s-early 90’s Metal but I didn’t know that it affected my composition? Or probably the old shadows of my late Banshee years that create the Black/Thrash sound into our material? Well maybe..?? Anyway whatever it is, yes our lyrics is one of the most important aspect that I want to bring forward to, as it comes directly from our hearts, and my enraging heart indeed! All the lies and corruption of this new world order system made me pissed off, in contrary I put everything forth in Singhasari, more like a return to the ancient days! In Singhasari there is no modern politics in general, as I myself I am a nationalist and a traditionalist, I prefer the traditional order to be preserved into our land! I do refer a lot on Malay folklore too, for example the track “Srivijaya” actually taken from “Sejarah Melayu” that tells the story of the Srivijaya Kingdom from the 7th century. The lyric for that song is a mix of mythological, historical and nationalism.
BM: It's related with racism or fascism? Do you thing all these happen todya in our beloved country? I asking these regarding to the current situation of our country especially in some aspects, political & rights.
PA: Racism and Fascism we can’t deny that it does live in each every one of us, but I am more likely an Ultra-Nationalist so to speak, I don’t hate other races because of their differences, as long as they lived peacefully in their own country, and let me and our people live peacefully in our own country that is fine for me. I only hate those who are opportunist, and infesting other people’s nation, this extremely destroys one’s culture and heritage! This cannot be tolerated in my opinion. Nothing to do with those betrayers (kerajaan persekutuan)! They are more likely the betrayer of our people and our land, at first they stand on nationalistic approach, so called to protect our Malay race and all, this is all bullshit because they have been betraying us from the start! Open eyes and see what they have done to our beloved Tanah Melayu! Singhasari stand against the mainstream political and globalization, for the eternal freedom of Senggaramasin!
BM: Yes, that betrayer can be burn in hell! Are you guys ready to be a front line if we declare a war on this betrayer?
PA: For sure, we are most of all are pro-monarchists, we hate democratic system and ideologies, all of this lies were created during modern times and we want to perish all of these false lies into the ground once and for all! We will fight for our King, our Agong, our Land and our People when the time comes! May our King reign eternally and our land shall shine again! Daulat Nusantara!!
BM: I bet you had done a lot of research in our culture pride & history. Did you have any reference or ancient literature that you used while creating your music? What is your favorite old literature which gave you such a big impact in your life thus; give you a strength & idea to mix it with your band material?
PA: Good question I really like this one, actually I am very into History and Literatures, I’ve been reading history since pre-school years, well believe it or not, it has been inside of me for very long time now, I was raised in a strict old Malay family so I was much adapted to the ancient ways of our lifestyle. But I did not restrict myself from reading only our literature and getting to know only our culture, don’t misunderstand me on this part, I am quite fond to the Japanese traditional culture too, the ancient Samurai code of honor (especially the pre-Shogunate years, those were the sincere years) and also the strive to revive the monarchist system years in Japan during the late Tokugawa period, this really inspired me to revolt to the modern democratic system. I am also very much inspired by ancient Nusantaranese scriptures such as Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa, Hikayat Hang Tuah, Serat Pararaton atawa Katuturanira Ken Angrok (this one tells the tale of Ken Arok, the founder of Singhasari kingdom, from where we got the name for Singhasari), Sulatus Al Salatin (Sejarah Melayu) etc etc.. Most of these books bring to life of my ideologies, struggle and pride!
BM: What you expect while releasing your promo CD to listeners? Did you feel the listeners out there can understand the main SINGHASARI struggle thru this promo?
PA: It’s a subjective matter wether people can accept it or not, most Metal listeners these days they prefer subjects such as Satanism, Goat, Sex & lust and stuffs like that but I am not into that kind of stuffs, those stuffs are not my cup of poison, and I felt like there’s nothing to talk about those mentioned stuffs as it is a waste of time?! Don’t you think so? I know it’s up to one’s interest and all but come on, take Satanism and compare it with Paganism as for example, I prefer Pagan Black Metal bands over Satanic Black Metal bands, why? Because, simple, Pagan strive for their existence and they HONESTLY hates Christianity because Christians destroyed their old religion, whilst Satanism only copied invertedly from Christians and talked about anti-christianity, what is that? So what is the struggle for Satanism then? Just to look evil? I don’t need something that is not real. I know there are some people who will think that Singhasari is a racist oriented band and will start to hate us! Let me tell you straight, Singhasari is a traditionalist machine and ultra-nationalist front and we will never surrender!
BM: Did you feel enough to spread your ideology thru material? Did you plan on live appearing so far?
PA: We do have plans for live performances but I think not in the mean time, we do have sessionists from our circle who can help us for live shows but I expect high for Singhasari live performances, I want full set traditional instrument to be avail in our shows, such instruments are Gendang, Nafiri, Gong, Gamelan Barong etc and in order to fulfill all of these instruments in live will take too much effort, for now we will just concentrate on releasing stuffs then.
BM: As we all concern, it’s hard to see people united with all pride & spirits like the old days. We can see it anywhere, any places. It’s like people today are lost their entity, dying in power, glamorous & money. It’s not happen in mainstream shit life, it’s also in underground scene where people are merely like to talk shit, criticize etc besides supporting each others.
PA: That’s one of the reason why I prefer to distant myself from other entities, I prefer to be among my circle only and only keeping my ties to those who are really dedicated and can appreciate and respect my work and efforts. Yes modern people are disgusting, I do hope someday I can preach everyone to return back to our ancient respected life, live in honor and pride! Just like the old times! Obey our King, Having faith in religion and spiritual, loving our Land, respect our Ancestors, honor our folk and family and live peacefully among ourselves!
BM: I can smell the new fresh unholy material is on the way. Can you describe more about your upcoming release? How about the tapes release by Hellhouse Production?. How you get the deal?
PA: Actually our first Promo was sent out as free copies to all labels and zines worldwide who are in kontakt with me, there are few other labels who are interested to release Singhasari but for this first E.P release I prioritize those who are really into our material and who can release it in cassette format (I always prefer cassette over CD anyway) and it was Hellhouse Production the very first label who put his high interest in Singhasari and wanted to release it as cassette format, so that’s how the deal got it’s place. This upcoming release will see the light of the day maybe somewhere mid this year, as currently we are still rehearsing for our new songs, as for how the song will sound like, it’s still in the vein of our previous material, but with more dark and ancient energy into it!
BM: One more things, I’m interested to know much more about your movement, I mean 88, Darah & Maruah activities etc. It’s like a one community which gathers all genres in one movement. Seem that some of the bands itself hail the Nazis & I believe that must have a good reason to tell since some people are already know about the histories of Nazis but not in all aspect I guess. Hail Fuhrer!!!
PA: This is rather a very discreet movement, but I can tell a little bit of this. Darah & Maruah was actually founded by our brothers in Temasek (Singapore), during those years I was handling a little Distro called Malay Propaganda Distro, when they first contacted me it was somewhere back in late-2006 I guess, that was the peak when we in Petaling Jaya region reformed our fraternity and gathered more strength, the ideas of our comrades in Temasek are rather similar to ours during that time, and so the blood was bonded together and we were split into two faction one as Darah & Maruah Tanah Melayu and the other are Darah & Maruah Singapura, being the latter one as the first official DM. The movement is now rather big, supported also by Right-Wing Skinheads and radical Malay youths, we are now split into few other factions, being us as Darah & Maruah PST (Tengah) Tanah Melayu, Darah & Maruah Utara (North) Tanah Melayu, Darah & Maruah Selatan (South) Tanah Melayu and Darah & Maruah Timur (East) Tanah Melayu. If you searched deeper into the DM community you will find plenty other bands and activities involving DM, and yes there are various different kind of personalities and ideas in DM now, but most of us relate to one agenda, we are all pro-monarchist and traditionalist. That is the only solution to strive back for our ancestral land in my opinion. The Nazis are a good example of nationalism in general, the insignia the symbol, is very attractive, but personally I don’t really understand A.H, he is a genius, and pure-nationalist but yep, I can’t really understand him, I do have contacts with other nationalists all across the globe and we sometimes exchange thoughts on this, and some of them also shared the same thoughts as me, they respect A.H but they can’t really understand him well.
BM: We reach the end of this conversation. Thanks again for spending your time with us. I hope that SINGHASARI will reach the aim & glory soon. We hail all the movement, spirits & creativity of SINGHASARI! Laungkan semangat Nusantara….
PA: Thanks for this interesting questions it really freshens me up! Blessed be for your eternal support on our war and struggle! Nusantara Raya!
PA: Daulat and Heilsa! The world in general never treated us good!
